LET’S LEARN THE RECYCLING SIGNS

recycling 1.jpg

#1—PET (Polyethylene Terephalate)

This is the easiest and most common plastic to recycle, avoid reusing (e.g. peanut butter jars, water bottles…)

recycling 2.jpg

#2—HDPE

(High Density Polyethylene)

More flexible than PET’s but just as recyclable (e.g. juice bottles, grocery bags, dairy tubs…)

recycling 3.jpg

#3—PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)

Rarely recycled; reuse is not advised since it contains toxins (e.g. food wrapping, trays for sweets…)

recycling 4.jpg

#4—LDPE

(Low Density Polyethylene)

Reusable but not commonly recycled (e.g. dry-cleaning bags, dairy container lids…)

recycling 5.jpg

#5—PP (Polypropylene)

Not commonly recycled, though it should be! Also safe for reuse (e.g. straws, cereal bags, ketchup bottles…)

recycling 6.jpg

#6—PS (Polystyrene)

Avoid this product at all costs!! Not recyclable, not reusable, and mostly ingested by innocent marine animals! (e.g. styrofoam cups, disposable cutlery, some egg cartons…)

#7—OTHER (Other plastics)

Due to the anonymity of its constituents, best not reuse or recycle, since material may contain toxins like BPA (e.g. huge water bottles, window cleaner…)
